Day 7

Well here we are.  The official half way point.  No one is really saying anything about the hurricane warnings so we just wait and see.  Went to church today.  About 300 people attended the service which did last almost 3 hours.  I was invited up to say a few words and of course I got stage fright and misquoted John 3:16.  The Pastor bailed me out fortunately.  Had cottage pie, carrot and ginger soup, and buttered rice for lunch today.  Going to prepare stuffed chicken legs, potatoes, and something for dessert and fresh bread.  Think I will pack it in early today.  I will leave you with my faux pas in church today

  1. Hi Mister:
I'm so glad you made it to church....Reno took me this morning.....and I was so grateful. Rev. Jim's sermon was excellent as usual, with the message that we must have faith in times of trouble. Everyone that was in for breakfast this morning asked about you and all send the best wishes and prayers for a safe return.
Take care mister....I'm watching the weather closely and pray for the safety of everyone there.
    Bye for now
    Love Gayle, Wolfie and Maggie

  2. Hi Brian, sounds like you are having an awesomazing time! You will come home a changed man! Great thing about faux pas at church is that most will not even notice and those that do are usually forgiving. The only thing I can say about stage fright is that practice makes perfect-the more you get on stage, the less frightened you will become. Now, you will have to memorize that verse! Isn't it great that Sunday is God's Day ALL Day & there was no concern for the length of the service? (Pastor Jim, don't get the wrong idea!) Perhaps your next cooking class at Goodies could include the beans & rice and other Haitian fare and how about a song or two? Remember, you have a connection with God re the weather, so PRAY the storm disapates or passes farther away, and be prepared. I personally like to sing "Mr. Sun" then pray! Congratulations Brian for going and doing great work. Many blessings and prayers for you, Sue
